HannaH Jean Crowell is originally from the Appalachian Mountain town of Boone, North Carolina. The mountains provided a playground of beauty to grow up in that enriched the senses while developing a perception of natural beauty which taught a young artist that even the simplest of elements are examples of artistic magnificence. Whether it was with a bucket of legos or a paint brush, HannaH began telling stories by creating. In high school, beginning first on the stage as an actor, it was an opportunity to create the scenic design for Cocktails with Mimi that led her to working on the stage to tell stories through design.
She began attending North Carolina School of the Arts concentrating her studies and training in Scene Design and Lighting Design. Her final design at NCSA was Trelawny of the Wells. This was a unique process because she took on the endeavor of being the Scene Designer and the Lighting Designer.
HannaH currently resides in Washington, DC where she
continues to use her creativity and imagination to create worlds and tell stories. Please visit Current Projects for a current list of projects.
HannaH’s design interests extend beyond the stage into the world of museums and exhibit design. She hopes to be able to use both the stage and the found space to communicate through art and design.
